Design basics in science communication - Effectively visualise and present your academic contents

WWB-Area | Learning field

Science communication | Design | Basic

Starting Point

This training conveys a basic knowledge about the compelling usage of graphical elements (typography, image, colour) and the application of the key principles of graphic design (balance, proportion, composition, alignment, white space, etc.) to professionally and effectively present academic content. In combination with an overview and training how to use essential design tools of the graphics software Adobe InDesign CC, participants will have the opportunity to train their design skills hands-on, as well as to get the best out of their drafts, by analysing and discussing with group and trainer during the practice sessions.

We use Adobe InDesign to show you the basic workflow with a professional design tool. No matter what kind of programme you will choose later on, all key principles of design covered in the training are transferable to any other application.

After this training you will have enhanced your knowledge about graphic design and brushed up your design skills to effectively communicate and present your preferential academic topics.
