Success in Your Doctorate II: Keep Going!

WWB-Area | Learning field

Research Management | Successful Doctorate | Advanced

Starting Point

Partway into their PhD many students face new challenges. Experiments do not work out as expected. Teaching and other additional tasks cut into the time for focused research. Supportive feedback is limited. Others seem to progress much faster. These are just some of the reasons why many experience a motivational dip and an increase in stress during the second doctoral phase. Boosting your project management skills and competencies in time management and self-motivation will help you master this second phase and make productive progress towards completing your PhD.

Aim

At the end of the course participants will have methods for boosting their project-, time- and self-management skills that work well for them. They will have identified strengths and ideas to overcome challenges. As a result, participants will be newly motivated to pursue their doctoral project with energy and passion.

    • Effective planning: Setting goals, measuring progress, changing course.
    • Efficient writing and dealing with writer’s block
