Starting Point
Digital Tools offer a variety of opportunities for optimising the planning, management, documentation and dissemination of your research towards transparency and efficiency in every step of the research workflow. From literature search and research design via data analysis to result dissemination, this course will highlight and discuss features and benefits of digital tools and what aspects to be aware of during their usage.
Aim
Participants will learn how to critically assess digital tools for feasibility and usability in their research project and will be enabled to optimize their research for efficiency and transparency from research planning and management, to writing, reading and publishing in an international and collaborative research setting

- Digital Tools across the Research Workflow
- Literature search tools, databases and repositories
- Open source vs. proprietary tools for data analysis and visualization
- Aspects of data privacy and security
- How to protect Intellectual Property: Licensing options and ‘priority of discovery’

- Theoretical introduction to the topic
- Reading material, case studies
- Participative group work
- Individual work
- Group discussion
