Teaching English Academic Writing
WWB-Area | Learning field
Teaching and Learning | Advanced teaching module
Starting Point
As universities increasingly attract international students, not only is teaching conducted in English, but students are also expected to develop an authorial persona in English. This requires instructors be able to support students in their writing process, helping them develop a credible voice in their academic field of discourse.
This workshop offers participants both an understanding of the values that shape academic writing in English and tools to teach writing and help students realize these techniques in practice.
Aim
Participants will learn
- a process to help students overcome their fear of writing

- writing tasks that professors across the curriculum can adapt to their own fields
