Living and working in a new environment is a real challenge!


During this info session you will learn more about your host institution TU Berlin and support services for visiting scholars. You will also get information on your teaching and learning environment as well as possible scientific continuing education.

Your views on TU Berlin and the goals you wish to achieve through your personal “internationalization” as well as the activities you undertake can be put in the context of the German Higher Education system and intercultural concepts.

We will give you some information on your possible interaction with colleagues, students and administrators as well as people from different cultural backgrounds and status to further develop your intercultural skills for your professional and personal life.


We will focus on the following subjects:

  • Your host institution TU Berlin
  • Cultural competences, dimensions and standards


This is an online-workshop. The participants can talk about their views on TU Berlin and the goals they want to achieve through their personal “internationalization” and the activities they undertake. This will be put in the context of the German higher education system and intercultural concepts.

Max. number of participants: 15. Course


Target Group: visiting scholars, international researchers and lecturers, who want to further develop their international and intercultural competences.

Online-Seminar. Participants receive login data by email prior the course.
Videoconference. Participants who want to prepare prior the course are invited to visit our Praxisblog and our Wiki.

Course language
For employees and assistant lectures and registered doctoral candidates at TU Berlin, the course is free of charge. For non-employees, please contact  for information on fees.
Participants please keep a laptop with video and audio function or a webcam and headset ready.
Assuming successful participation, you receive a certificate of attendance.
Applicable for TU certificate for teaching and learning.

Your binding participation is very important to us. On the one hand, our courses are connected with high costs. On the other hand, we plan much group work and work interactively with you. Hence, should you be unable to attend the entire course or should you be prevented from attending the course at all, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can allocate the place to other interested persons. In the event of multiple unexcused absence, we reserve the right to exclude you from further ZEWK courses.
